My First Car Crash Part 1

As you may learned at this point I am a person that values going through out of the ordinary experiences. While I don't always choose or even like the situations that I get into, I like the fact that I had the chance to live through them. This may sound strange, but as a kid I was alway curious what it would be like to be in a car crash. Now I never wanted anybody to get hurt and would never do it intentionally, but I thought it would be a worthwhile experience. As a kid I had always thought that if I were in a crash somebody else would be at the wheel and it would be just a fender bender. Well, about two years after I got my license I got my wish, only I was at the wheel and it was much more than a fender bender.
On that day my friend Dave, a girl we knew, and I decided that we wanted to go for a drive around my area. We wanted to explore the back roads in the woods and enjoy the nice weather. On this day I was driving my jeep with our female friend sitting on my front passenger side and Dave was following us from behind in his jeep. Most of the roads that we were driving on were paved so it was easy to maintain control, but eventually the pavement dropped off and was replaced by gravel. This made it much more difficult for my tires to gain traction.
As we were driving we started approaching a tight turn on the road. So as I began the turn I slowed down to the usual pace I do. But because of the gravel on the road I was still going too fast for my tires to catch. I felt my tires start to slide and realized that my jeep was going to go off the road if I didn't do something. Now this is the part that my friend Dave likes to make fun of me for whenever we talk about that day. He says "Any NORMAL person that feels themselves going off the road would hit the brakes, but not you Chris, you F-ken accelerate". Which is exactly what I did.
At the time I felt that even if I hit the breaks I was still going off the road, so the only thing to do was to try pull myself away from the edge. So I turned my wheel to the right and hit the gas. My plan worked and I was able to go the other way, only now I was headed off the road in the other direction at an even faster pace. So I turned the wheel again and went back to the left. Again the same thing happened and I went sliding faster. Finally, for the last time I turned back to the right. As I began to move towards the right my jeep started to turn clockwise until I was fly down the road side ways. This time I was going off the road and their was nothing I could do about it.
But instead of just ending up in a grassy field like I would have, was looking out side my driver side window at a three foot wide tree that was coming at me. The tree was going to hit my driver side door and going probably going to kill me. But the car was still turning as we got closer and instead of hitting my driver side door it hit the passenger door right behind it along with part of the driver side. I hit with so much force that my jeep bounced off the tree and spun into a field.
When the jeep stopped, the front end was facing the road.  The first thing I noticed was Dave  getting out of his car, my friend frozen in her seat next to me, and the path I had created from the road to the field. I couldn't believe what had just. Everything happened so fast that I could not mentally process what had just happened. I wanted to take a second to get my thoughts together. But before I had time to think, I saw smoke start coming out of the front of my car. This story will be continued in the next post.

Cheese Steaks

This is about another incident that occured in Florida. My friend Dave and I were on our first trip alone from our parents and had spent our time at Universal Studios. On our last night we had returned from a theme park hungry and tired. In honor of it being our last night we decided that we were going to have a special dinner. We decided to order cheese steaks to be sent to our hotel. So while my friend went off to take a shower, I called up a local pizza joint.
When I got the guy on the phone I asked that he please deliver an order of two cheese steaks to our hotel. After he told me how long the wait would be I hung up the phone. Dave eventually got out of the shower and asked me if I made the order. I told him that I had and that it would arrive soon. We soon got a call letting us know that the delivery man was down stairs. We put our money together and I ran downstairs to get our order.
The man handed me two covered cardboard trays. I figured that our cheese steak was cut in half and had been placed in the box to help them fit better. I paid the man what was owed and quickly went back to our room. I gave Dave his portion of the change and we each sat down with our order in front of us. "This is it" we thought "our last big meal". We each opened up our boxes, savoring our cheese steak dinner. But after opening the lid we saw that it wasn't a cheese steak. It was something covered in breading with sauce on the side. "What is this?" we thought.
We than broke open one of the pieces and saw cheese in the middle. Dave looked up and glared at me with a look of hate that I have never seen before. "Cheese sticks" he exclaimed. What?" I asked. "The guy on the phone must of thought you said cheese sticks because of the way you were talking" he said. "It's not my fault" I said "besides, the guy didn't speak very good english so he must have miss understood what I was saying". "Say cheese steaks" Dave said. "Cheese steaks" I replied. "It sounded like you just said cheese sticks" he answered. "No it doesn't" I answered back.
Dave slapped his lid back down. "I have been starving since we got back and was craving these cheese steaks" Dave complained "but because of you all I have is a box of six cheese sticks and some sauce". "So do you not want them?" I asked. "YES" he nearly yelled "It is the only thing that we have to eat". So we just sat and ate our cheese stick dinner. As terrible a situation as it was, we still laugh about that night today.

Sir or Mam?

This story is going to be short. It occured one day when my family and I were at a movie theater and we were just leaving the building. I was in the lead of my family and was the first one to the door. I saw someone holding the door for me and instinctivly said "Thank you sir".
I than noticed the long hair coming down the back of this persons back and quickly said "I mean mam". They then turned around and gave me an irritated look. I noticed this person had facial hair and said "I mean sir" again. But than I realized that the body seemed kind of femminen. "I mean" I started, "what ever you are". I just stood there at a loss for words. As the person walked off I turned to find my family laughing histaricly at me, while hiding behind a pole so that the person didn't see them.

Stuck in my Apartment Part 2

After waiting around for a bit, Brian returned with one of the residential advisors. She asked if I was ok. "Yea I'm fine" I answered. She explained to me that she had no way of opening the door and said that she needed to get our landlord for help. The problem was that the landlord was not on the propertey and had left to take care personal business. She said that she would give him a call and ask when he'd be coming back. So she stepped out of the building and dialed his number.
When she retured to the door she told me that the lanlord wouldn't be back for about another hour or so. After saying she was sorry, she and my friend left. So now I had to wait an hour for this guy to get back and hopefully he'd be able to set me free. I went to my bedroom, turned on my computer, and started watching South Park.
After going through about three episodes I got bored and decided to call one of my friends. It helped to pass the time as we both laughed at the situation I was in. Eventualy we finished talking and I let him get back to what he was doing. I than noticed how long it was taking and remembered that I was supposed to be meeting another one of my friends at the college. I tried to give him a call on the cell, but he didn't pick up. I than went back to my computer. I soon heard foot steps coming up the stairs, as well as my landlord talking to the R.A.
When he got to the door he asked how I was. I told him I was fine, but sick of being locked inside. He than tried the handle and as expected it didn't work. "Hey Chris" he yelled. "Yea"? I asked. "Stay away from the door" he answered. I did as he said and stepped towards the back, out of the doors way. I was wondering what he was planning to do to get the door open.
Next thing I know there is a loud boom as he kickes the door in, breaking the bolt through the door frame. After asking how I was again he examined the handle. He than told me that he would send one of his workers over to fix the door. I thanked him for the help and he went on his way. At this point it was too late to go see my roomate, so I decided to just wait for him and see what his response would be once he saw the damage to the door. He was shocked to say the least.

Stuck in my Apartment Part 1

This story took place last year. I was in my apartment hainging out and waiting too meet up with a friend of mine at our college. While I was waiting, another buddy of mine decided to stop by and see me. He knocked on the door and asked me to let him in. "It's open" I told him. "No it's not" he answered back. I got up and walked to the door. I stopped when I saw that the door handle was unlocked. "Yes, it is" I said. I that watched as he tried to turn the knob. "What in the world" I thought to myself.
I walked up to the door and tried to turn the handle, but for some reason it didn't move. After feeling a bit confused a thought came to my mind. My friend was known for playing pranks on people so I asked him what he did. "Nothing" he answered "I just walked over here to see what you were doing". I didn't entirley believe him. "Brian" I said "I have to meet Albalardo in about an hour at the college. Let me out". "Seriously, I'm not doing anything" he answered "You can't open it on your side either"? "No" I said "The handle won't move". "Chris, give me your key and I'll try to see if I can rattle it open". I took my key out of my pocked and slid it under the door. "If he runs off with my key he's dead" I thought to myself. I heard Brian moving the key around in the knob but it wasn't moving.
After giving up he slid it back to be me under the door. "Try using a card to open it" I suggested. He tried a card but the space was too small for the card to fit into. "Hey Chris I'll be back" he said "I'm gonna run back to my apartment and grab some tools". So he ran off and I sat back on my coach and waited for him.
At this point some of you might be wondering why I don't just jump out a window to get out. There are a few reasons why. First, my room is on the seconed floor of the complex so it would be a bit of a drop. Seconed, the door to the deck of my apartment has been cut off because my landlord was having construction done to it. So there was no way for me to get out.
Finally, Brian got back with his tools. "What are you going to do"? I asked. "Well I was going to unscrew the knob so I could reach the lock on the inside" he said "But it looks like the screws are on your side". After looking at the knob on my side I answered "Yup, they are". "Okay, than I'm going to have to throw them to you from the side window" he answered. "OK" I replied "I'll be waiting for you over there".
I walked over to my window and saw my friend in the parkinglot ready to toss a screwdriver through the window. "Ready"! he asked. He than through the screwdriver right at me. I decided not to catch it and just let it fly into the kitchen, almost hitting the far wall. I than picked it up off the floor and headed for the door. I waited for him to get back up the stairs and be on the other side.
Once there he said "Chris, unscrew it just enough so that I can get to the inside of the lock". So I did as he said and made the screws loose enough so that we could see the inside. We saw that the piece that connected the handle to the bolt was broken. "What do we do now"? I asked. "Well we could just take the handle apart entriley" he said "but we might end up braking the door in the proccess. I'm gonna need to just get help for this. But before I do we need to put the handle back together or they may think that it's our fault that the doors broken". So we tightened up the screws and he ran off to go get help. This story will be concluded in the next post.

Trapped in a Van

A while back I was an intern at a radio station. I was working in the promotions department so it was my job to go to events and tell people about the station. One day I was sitting with my boss and he asked me to go get something out of our promotional vans and bringing it inside. I don't remember what it was. Happy to help out I got up and headed out. Once I was outside I noticed how hot it was on this summer day, so I was glad that I was working inside.
I walked up to the back of the van and opened the back doors. I looked around for the item that I needed and saw it sitting towards the front. Without thinking, I hopped into the back of the van and crouched towards the thing I needed. As I was moving I noticed that the daylight behind me was fading. Realizing what was happening I turned to see the doors start to close. I dove at them, but before my body made contact I heard a click. The lock had just barely made it, leaving me with a small crack to the outside. I was trapped.
Now before I go on let me explain all the problems with the situation that I was in. First, for some reason there was no way to get the back doors open from the inside. Second, there was no light on the inside of the van. Finally, because it was a hot day, the temperature was quickly rising to an unbearable level. This problem had already happened to one girl, but lucky for her we were at an event so one of us was able to let her out. I was in the parking lot with nobody around.
As I crouched in the dark I thought of all the stories I've heard about kids locking themselves in trunks of cars and there bodies being found days later. In a sudden feeling of panic I started ramming myself into the doors. But it did no good and only made me more tired. I kept myself pressed against the door so that I could get fresh air from the crack. The idea of calling my boss for help came to mind, but I thought it would be pretty stupid to make that call. I than got the idea of calling one of the friends I had on the inside of the station.
I took out my phone and dialed his number. After hearing the phone ring for a bit, it eventually went to voice mail where I left a message. I than waited for him to call me back. The heat in the van soon became too much and decided I had to do something else. With some level of dread I called my boss. He eventually picked up the phone and asked me where I had been. I told him that I had managed to lock myself in the back of the van and needed him to let me out. He than told me that I should be able to get out of the door from the inside. I replied that there was no way that the back doors could be opened. "No not the back door" he said "The side door". "This van doesn't have a side door" I answered. He than said that the van he directed me to go into had a door that opened up on the side.
I than used my phone as a source of light as I felt my way through the inside. Sure enough I found a door. Crossing my fingers, I pulled the handle and it opened up. As I stepped into the cool fresh air, happy to be free, I saw the van on the other side that was the one without the side door. I than thanked my boss for the help, grabbed the things I needed, and headed back. I had been locked inside that van for nearly ten minutes.

The Most Embarrassing Moment of My Life Part 2

After deciding to wash my underwear in the sink, I took them off along with my pants. I than turned on the faucet and started washing my underwear with hot water. Than I added soap to the mix in hopes that it would get rid of the stain. While it did get rid of some of it, there were still plenty of spots left. I than tried to use a role of paper towels to get it dry. In the end I was left holding a moist sagging piece of underwear with smears of crap on it. Not knowing what else to do, I put my underwear back on with my pants over top. I than walked back to the classroom doing my best to avoid eye contact when I entered.
I than walked over to my desk and sat down. At that time I hated sitting with wet clothes or even a bathing-suit. But when I had to sit there with my dirty underwear, I hated it substantial more. Trying to ignore the other kids I heard the teacher call my name. "Chris" she said "Your mother is coming here later with a new pair of clothing for you". So I waited for my mom to arrive, but she didn't arrive any time soon. Eventually it was time for us all to go outside for recess.
I got up with the rest of the class and we walked outside. While everyone else was playing on the play ground, I stayed by myself messing around on the merry go round. Now to truly understand how awful it was to experience what happened next, you need to get a good image in your head of the school grounds. From left to right it goes the school, the parking lot, the bleachers, the baseball field, and than the playground.
Now on this day there was a baseball game going on. So the bleachers and the field was filled with all the older kids and some teachers. Because of the vast amount of space between the school and playground, a bull horn was used to make announcements to the kids so that all could hear it. So there I was minding my own business trying not to draw attention when I heard the crackling noise of the bull horn turning on. "Christopher Cavalier" they announced "Your mother is hear with a fresh pair of underwear".
Being a very shy person at the time no words can describe how I felt, it was hell. There I was with almost every member of the school staring at me. To make matters even worse I had to go through the baseball field, bleachers, parking lot, and than the school just to get away from everyone. After taking the time to absorb the shock of what had just happened, I bolted for the school. I went into a mental shutdown as I ran. I don't remember who was there because all my focus was in my head. I ran passed everyone around me hardly noticing how they were reacting.
After what seemed like forever I reached the doors of the school. I than ran into the office where my mom was waiting for me with the clothes. I don't remember what happened after that. So that is the story of the most embarrassing moment of my life. Again, feel free to post comments bellow to tell your most embarrassing moment.

The Most Embarrassing Moment of My Life Part 1

I have told this story to many people and have yet to find anyone that can top this embarrassing moment. If you think you can top it or want to add your own, please post it in the comment box. I would love to read what you have to say. Anyway, this story goes back to when I was in kindergarden. This event was so traumatizing that I can still remember it from back than.
I remember that it all started in the class room while the teacher was giving some kind of lesson to the class. While I was sitting there I realized that I had to go to the bathroom. So I raised my hand and asked the teacher if I could go. After saying it was OK, I got up and walked out the door. Once I got into the hall one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs popped into my head. No I don't remember which one.
So I started singing to myself as I walked down the hall. I may have also been dancing, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I was so caught up in the song that before I knew it I had made it to the other end of the school. I stood at the end of the hall trying to remember why I had left the room. I decided to make my way back to the class and see if I would remember. About half way back I saw the sign for the men's room. "Oh that's right" I thought to myself "I had to go to the bathroom". For some reason I didn't feel like I had to go anymore, so I just walked back to class.
I entered the room and took my seat with the rest of the class. As I sat there the need to go to the bathroom rose again. I didn't think the teacher would let me go to the bathroom again so I decided to hold it. But it was no use, there was no way that I was going to make it. So I raised my hand and asked to go to the bathroom again. As expected the teacher said no. Not too long after that, a terrible smell built up in the room. The kids and the teacher were trying to figure out where it was coming from.
Trying to blend in with the crowed, I decided to act like I was trying to figure out what it was. But it was use, everyone in the class room new that I had crapped my pants. After the laughing and comments died down, the teacher told me to clean myself up while they contacted my mom. Filled with embarrassment and shame I walked to the men's bathroom.
Once inside I had difficulty deciding what to do next. The thought of throwing out my underwear occurred to me, but I was afraid I would get into trouble for trashing my clothes. Now I know teacher's are concerned about getting into trouble for dealing with students in an inappropriate way, but I could have really used an adults help at that time. I decided the best thing to do was wash my underwear out in the sink. The conclusion to this story will be in the next post and yes it gets far worse.
