Duck Tape Escape

This is another story that involves my brother and I playing one of our games. One night I came up with another escape game that we could play. I told my brother that I wanted him to take me outside and duck tape me to a tree. After taking some convincing he walked outside with me.
We than walked up to one of the big trees in the front yard. I than gave him the tape and pressed my back against the tree. He than started to wrap the tape around my body between my shoulders and knees. Once he was done he started to walk back to the house. I yelled at him "Hey! Where are you going?" "You asked me to duck tape you to a tree so I did." he responded "Now I'm going back inside." He than turned and walked back in the house leaving me outside.
I was left outside in the dark attached to a large tree trunk. This was not what I had envisioned when I thought about my great escape. I tried to pull myself through the tape, but it wouldn't budge. So instead I tried to first free my hands. Once they were free I was slowly able to rip other pieces of tape off my body. The process was taking a long time and my nerves were started to build up. I felt very helpless to be stuck on a tree. This pushed me to get the tape off faster.
As I was working, I heard the sound of a car coming down the street. I feared that my parents were on there way back and that they would find me stuck like this. In a panic I ripped myself through the rest of the tape and nearly fell over. I than ran for the house and tried to get inside before their car arrive. I made it across the lawn and through the front door before the arrived. However, it turned out not to be their car and it was just some driver going by.

Playing with Tools

When my brother and I were younger we would make up different games that we could play. One of the more dangerous games we played involved trapping one of us in a card board box and stabbing our fathers tools on the inside in an effort to scare the other person. WARNING: DO NOT DO THIS! In the past we have used such things as saws, box cutters, nails, and in some cases power tools. I know we're sick. Any way, on one particular day it was my turn to be in the box. Things were going fine as my brother tried using different tools. Than at one point he said to me "Chris, what side is your head on". I responded by tapping the card board wall across from me to let him know my head wasn't there. Apparently he didn't get what I meant.
All of a sudden I feel a sharp pain on the back of my head. I ripped open the box and found my brother standing there with a screw driver in his hand. I quickly checked the back of my head to make sure that I wasn't bleeding, somehow I wasn't. "I thought you told me your head was on that side!" he said pointing to the other end of the box. "I was tapping on the side where my head wasn't. Why would I tap the side that my head was on, when I'm facing the opposite way."I answered. I went off to get something for my head. That was the last time we played that game.

Surviving a Storm Part 2

I could almost feel the electricity in the air when the first lightning bolt came down. As I was driving I watched as lightning hit parts of the island and the bay water that we were on. From what I could remember, lightning strikes whatever object was highest in the air. Considering we were the only people out on the water, I figured that made us a perfect target. I wanted to try and see if I could take us too land and hide. But I new that our parents would be worried about us and we had no way to get in contact with them to let them know we were OK. So I decided to just keep driving as fast as I could. What made things worse is that I knew we had more than ten minutes before we would even reached the dock.
As the lightning hammered around us I started to truly believe that we might not make it back. I turned back to my younger brother and yelled "Nick! F--ken pray!" "I am!" he yelled back. I than said my own personal prayer as we sped on. My greatest fear was that my brother might lose his grip and fall off the back into the water. The closer we got, the more the rain, waves, and lighting increased. Because of where our dock was located, we had no choice but to drive deeper into the storm.
As we got closer I saw a boat that was parallel to us trying to get back to it's dock. It was taking a severe beating from the waves as it struggled to maintain it's course. Considering how helpless they looked on the boat, I can't imagine what we looked like. I began to feel more comfortable because I knew our dock was a few minutes away. But as we got closer a terrible fog kicked up end kept me from seeing more than ten feet in front of me. This was a big problem because the only way I could know if I was going in the right direction was if I was able to see what part of the island I was by. If I stayed where I was, all I would be able to see is water. Which could lead me to travel aimlessly in the water with no idea of where I was going.
I felt like I was in a movie and the director was doing everything he could to keep me from reaching my destination. I immediately turned to the right and got as close to land as I could. Once I was able to see land I knew I was going the right way. I eventually saw our dock and almost breathed a sigh of relief when I realized I had one last obstacle to overcome. Our docking area was in the back and in order to get their I would have to make a few turns past some other boats before we could get to our spot.
Normally this is done at the slowest speed possible so that you don't hit any boats and have the time to correct yourself to make a mistake. But if I went slow into the docking area with these rough waters, a wave could easily slam us into the dock or somebody else's boat. Instead I choose to go at normal speed so that the waves couldn't grab us. I drove past the other boats and somehow manage to dock our wave runner with no problem. My brother and I jumped off and secured the wave runner in it's spot.
As we started to head for the house our sister met us. She told us that our parents had already been to the dock looking for us and were now going to get the coastguard to look for us. We ran to the house as fast as we could and called our parents letting them know we were back. They arrived home and asked what had happened to us. We then began to explain what had happened.
The next morning I got out of bed and went to grab some coffee. After I got my cup I saw a cut out piece of newspaper stuck to the fridge. The paper had the picture of a twister out on the bay with a bunch of boat's struggling to get away. I turned to my mom and asked "What's that?" She answered "That is what was going on while you and your brother were out on the water?"

Surviving a Storm Part 1

About two summers ago I was down the shore at Long Beach Island and my brother and I wanted to take one of our family wave-runners out on the bay for a drive. We asked our dad if we could, but he said we couldn't because there was a storm in the area. After waiting a while I noticed that the storm had moved on so I tried asking my dad again. Because he was in the process of talking to guests at our houses, he agreed so that we would leave him alone.
My brother and I got dressed and ran to the docks. I hopped on the controls at the front and my younger brother sat on the back holding onto me. After turning on the engine I pushed off the dock and we sped off. My plan was to drive to the inlet and play around  by jumping off the waves. Incase you don't know, the inlet is where the bay water meets the ocean so waves are constantly forming. I consider the inlet to be my playground in the water. The problem was that it was nearly twenty minutes away and my parents didn't want us going there. That wasn't going to stop  us though.
As I was driving I looked to my right I could see the dark clouds over the main land. Considering they were so far way I didn't see them as a problem. We eventually arrived at the inlet and that's when the fun began. I sped through the water jumping over four foot waves. We would go back and forth through the inlet and see how many waves we could hit. We stayed and messed around for a while until I noticed something wrong. The water was getting much rougher and didn't have the same flow as before. We decided that things were getting a bit too dangerous so we made the decision to go back.
As I was turning to head for the bay I saw that the dark clouds over the main land were slowly moving back toward the island. Knowing how far I had to go to get to the dock I told my brother told hold onto me as tight as he could. I than gunned the engine and flew as fast as possible. The clouds were getting closer and the waves were picking up. Because the waves were now nearly six feet high I had a hard time maintaining a fast speed. The wind soon picked up and rain began to pour down. Because of how fast I was going, each drop of rain stung my skin. My brother offered me the goggles that he was wearing, but I told him to hang onto them. Instead I squinted my eyes and tried to see with my eyelids slightly peeled open. I was a bit nervous, but I was confident that I could get us home. The clouds were almost over our heads when there was a massive drop in the temperature. I knew in my gut that something very bad was about to happen. This story will be concluded in the next post.

Silver Savior

For this post I would like to inform you about my activities as an investor. One of the investment vehicles that I am using to protect my money is precious metals. I specifically am invested in silver. I know their may be the biased that gold is better, but it appears that this is no longer the case in our current times. I choose silver for a number of reasons. First, the most obvious reason that I picked it was because it was affordable. For the majority of people, gold has became too expensive and so they aren't able to collect as much of it. Second, I picked silver because as more money is printed into our economy the price of silver and gold will continue to rise. Finally, I choose silver because is being used in the production of our technology, while gold is being kept in hiding. It is vanishing at such a rate that it is expected to be more rare than gold one day. Because of this there is the belief that it will eventually became as expensive as gold, if not more so. I understand that as of right now it is the greatest investment opportunity in human history. I strongly recommend it as an investment for those who want to get into the investing game. However, I warn you that you should be very carful about the kind of silver items that you buy. Before even making your first purchase, get educated about the type of silver that you should buy. Bellow is a link to a website that I go to and get all my information about the precious metals industry. Be sure to check it out and learn as much as you can. They also provide you with the opportunity to purchase from them. I encourage you to take advantage of what they have to offer.

Canoe Chaos

This story goes back to when I was in high school and on a field trip. Our class was at a camp where we spent the weekend together hanging out. The job of the counselors was to keep us busy during the day by giving us different activities. One day they decided to have us all partner up and go canoeing. Since it was fall and close to winter, we were to do our best to avoid getting wet.
When it came time to partner up, my friend Mike yelled "Who ever is partnering with me is getting wet!" I gladly stepped up to be partners with him. After everyone figured out what they were doing and got in the water, Mike and I came up with a plan. The plan was that at the end of the exercise we would jump out of the canoe and swim to shore.
We all than started rowing onto the one side of the lake. Our groups were supposed to go around and collect as many balls as we could from the water. The team who collected the most balls would win. Mike and I got board with the game and decided that we wanted to go for our swim. We rowed up to the area by the dock. We had about twenty feet of water between us and dry land. We figured that we should be able to safely make it to land being so close.
After a bit of mental preparation we jumped into the water. To say the water was freezing is an understatement. I felt like my body went into a state of shock and couldn't move. As I pulled my head out of the water I heard the muffled sound of Mike yelling at me. "Chris!" he yelled "grab the canoe!" I then noticed that one of our teachers on the shore was yelling the same thing to me in a panic.
Now the reason that they were so concerned about the canoe is that it was being pushed by the current towards a waterfall that was at the other end of the lake. I immediately turned and saw the canoe just five feet away from me. I could have swam to it, but I didn't. The water was so cold that all I wanted to do was get out and I did not want the weight of the canoe slowing me down. I turned my back to it and swam to shore with Mike. We were both greeted by our teacher yelling at us to get back in the water and get the canoe. We ran out onto the dock in an effort to head it off, but it was far for us to reach out and grab it.
At this point the counselor who had been watching the other students was now rowing as fast as she could to catch up with our canoe. Luckily, she was able to catch it before it could go over the water fall. As she rowed back to shore Mike and I decided to apologize like crazy. When she got onto the dock she said to us "If that canoe was destroyed over the waterfall you both would have had to pay three hundred dollars". After saying how sorry we were we went back to our cabin put on a new pair of clothes.

The Melting Pot

This is another story where I must warn you to NEVER do this under any circumstances. Okay, with the warning out of the way I can continue. One day, when we were younger, my brother and I decided that we were going to make a fire. Instead of making the fire in our fire pit outside, we decided to try something else. We figured we could use some kind of bowl that would contain the fire in a small location. We would place the bowl on the drive way, fill it up with sticks and light the sticks on fire. This way we could have a nice little fire to ourselves.
So we searched the house for a "bowlish" object that we could use to contain the fire. We eventually decided to use an empty flowerpot that we found in the garage. After cleaning it out we placed it in the driveway and started collecting sticks to put in the center. We made sure to put newspaper on the bottom and put the sticks on top. I than took a lighter and set the newspaper on fire. The fire soon caught on and began to grow.
We noticed that parts of the flowerpot were melting away. The edges were melting like the wax on a candle. Soon the bottom of the pot melted from underneath and the whole thing fell apart. The burning stinks fell across the ground, burning what was left of the pot. Luckily, we were able to put out the fire and no harm came to us. When it was over, what had been a beautiful flowerpot was now a pile of plastic melted to the driveway. Mom and Dad weren't happy.

Poisoned with Plastic

This story goes back to when I was in high school. Before reading this I would to let you no that at no point should you ever do this. It is dangers and can cause harm to others and you. During one of our days in science class, we were doing some kind of experiment that involved using a hot plate. I believe that the project had something to do with seeing how temperature affects different liquids in a beaker. I don't know for sure if that was it or not, but it was something along those lines.
Anyway, at some point the teacher was focused on what the other students were doing and made the mistake of taking her eyes off me. I had become board and like any kid with A.D.D. I found a way to entertain myself using the tools in the environment around me. I saw that there was a hot plate near me and decided to have some fun with it. I grabbed a plastic spoon, which we were using to stir with, and placed it on the top of the hot plate.
As it started melting I let more of it slide from my hand and onto the surface. Smoke started to rise from the plate as the spoon continued to deteriorate. I noticed that the smoke had a foul smell that almost burned my nose, but since no flames had started I didn't see what could go wrong. My teacher eventually smelled the smoke and looked around to see where it was coming from. When she finally saw that it was plastic that I was burning, she immediately made me take it off and had the class and I exit the room.
We all waited in the hall while she opened up the windows to allow the smoke to air out. I found out that day that when plastic is burned it creates a fume that is dangerous to the body if inhaled. According to her what I had done was release a poison inside the classroom that could have had severe consequences for those breathing it in. Luckily, nobody was harmed in the incident.
